GCC Wins Prestigious Airport Project

02-February-2013

Gulf Contracting Company, an Al Darwish United and Interserve company, has secured a prestigious 108 million QR project to deliver 17 passenger lounges for New Doha International Aiport, Qatar. The airport is set to be the new hub for all of Qatar’s visitors and residents as it gears up for the country’s massive predicted expansion.

The project commenced with Italian building company MC Permasteelisa Group at the helm in October 2012 and will finish in November 2013. The project represents one of the largest labour contracts that Gulf Contracting has undertaken and will consist of 17 passenger lounges, first and business class arrivals for Qatar Airways and a VIP check-in area.

Achieving the scheduled programme is essential for the success of the project and Gulf Contracting has delivered numerous projects on time for client Qatar Airwarys over the last 10 years, including the Oryx Rotana Airport Hotel and 12 departure gates for Doha International Airport. The project will be delivered and handed over in phased sections to allow airport operations to commence.

Speaking about the project, Acting General Manager Peter Weil of Gulf Contracting comments: "Gulf Contracting is so pleased to be a key part of opening up Qatar to the rest of the world. Securing this project is another example of how we build long-term relationships which result in repeat business."
